WHISKY glass maker Glencairn Crystal has revealed that international sales have exceeded UK revenues for the first time.

East Kilbride-based Glencairn, whose customers include bourbon giant Brown Forman in the US, Tomatin, Glenmorangie and Stolichnaya Group, said sales overseas leapt by 14 per cent last year. That helped turnover increase 10 per cent to £8.6 million, the firm said. The Asian market saw its biggest rise in sales, climbing by 74 per cent.

The company now sells more than three million of its trademark Glencairn Glass, which was introduced in 2001, each year.
