C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 60 store heifers in Dumfries on Monday to a top of 286p per kg and an average of 213.9p (-4p on the fortnight), while 90 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 290.7p and levelled at 228.6p (+6.6p). Thirteen store, B&W bullocks sold to 177.6p and averaged 160.8p (-7.3p).

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 23 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 246p and an average of 227.1p (-1.2p on the week), while 4 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 280p and levelled at 218p (-8.8p). Eighteen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 173p and averaged 151.9p (+0.4p).

In the rough ring 49 beef cows averaged 134p (no change) and 32 dairy cows levelled at 109p (n/c).

The firm also sold 632 prime hoggs to a top of £112.50 per head and 230.9p per kg to average 186.9p (-24.4p), while 312 prime lambs peaked at £127.50 and 311p to level at 241.5p (-14.2p).

The 242 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £148.50 for a Texel and average £78.29, while light ewes peaked at £73.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £50.72.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 13 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1416.10 per head and 238p per kg to average £1191.30 and 216.4p, while a couple of prime bullocks peaked at £1334 and 230p to level at £1209.80 and 206.8p.

In the rough ring 36 beef cows sold to £1400 and 162.9p to average 139.1p, while 72 dairy cattle peaked at £1100 and 134.2p to level at 109.1p. Six bulls sold to £1280 and 185.5p to average 123.5p, while 9 clean OTM cattle peaked at £1110 and 193p to level at 158.3p.

The firm also sold 8 dairy cattle to a top of £1580 for a second-calved Holstein Friesian and an average of £1235.
