C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 51 store heifers in Dumfries on Monday to a top of 325p per kg and an average of 214p (no change on the fortnight), while 60 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 293p and levelled at 223.6p (-5p). Fourteen store, B&W bullocks sold to 155p and averaged 148.1p (-12.7p).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 14 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 236p and an average of 218.7p.

In the rough ring 56 beef cows sold to £1390 per head and 179.4p per kg to average 142.8p, while 82 dairy cows peaked at £1370 and 166.2p to level at 119.6p. Four bulls averaged 110.8p and 13 clean OTM heifers levelled at 179.2p.

A larger show of 19 dairy cattle sold sharper on the week with a top price of £1600 for a Holstein Friesian cow and a final average of £1190.

Wallets Marts sold 587 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £116 per head and 313.5p per kg to average £97.95 and 249p (-3.4p on the week), while 98 prime hoggs peaked at £106 and 200p to level at £61.89 and 157p (-11.2p).
