Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 55 store heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of £1210 per head and 250p per kg to average £900.50 and 226.6p, while 73 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1265 and 268.9p to level at £1029.57 and 245.9p. Twenty-two store, dairy-bred bullocks sold £950 and 165.3p to average £837.50 and 161.9p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 6 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1374.60 and 239p per kg to average £129.66 and 231p, while a prime bull fetched £1026 or 180p.

In the rough ring 36 beef cows sold to £1330 and 172.9p to average 136.7p, while 86 dairy cows peaked at £1130 and 144.1p to level at 114.2p. Nine bulls sold to £1510 and 170.9p to average 128.8p, while 7 clean OTM cattle peaked at £1150 and 193.3p to level at 164.7p.

Wallets Marts had 981 prime lambs forward in Castle Douglas yesterday when only the best quality export lambs maintained last week's rates. Top prices on the day were £117 per head and 279p per kg with the final average levelling at 218.7p (-14.9p on the week).

A small show of 40 cast sheep sold to £100 for Texel ewes.
