MESSRS Craig Wilson Ltd sold six prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1,308 per head and 240p per kg to average £1,158 and 212.8p, while a couple of prime bullocks peaked at £1,356 and 202p to level at £1270 and 195.9p.
In the rough ring 145 beef cows sold to £1,200 and 190.5p to average 134.6p, while 86 dairy cows peaked at £1,070 and 169.2p to level at 114.3p. Four bulls sold to £1350 and 157p to average 140p.
The firm also sold 14 dairy cattle to a top of £1,720 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and an average of £1,401.
Wallets Marts sold 1,283 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £110 and 244.2p to average £87.88 and 211.6p (-4.2p on the week).
A small show of 106 cast sheep met a similar trade to last week with ewes selling to £117 for Texels, £97 for Mules and £62 for Blackfaces.
