Malt society breaks with tradition
THE Scotch Malt Whisky Society has defied its own convention – by launching its first every blended malt.
The Edinburgh-based society, which has a
traditional focus on single cask, single malt whisky, said Exotic Cargo is based on pre-blended malt
whiskies sourced by spirits manager Euan Campbell in 2006. All of the malts have been matured in first fill ex-sherry casks.
Kai Ivalo, spirits manager at the Edinburgh-based club, said the Society has broken the mould of what can be done with blended malt.
