MESSRS Craig Wilson Ltd sold 105 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1,260 per head and 241.6p per kg to average £879.52 and 207.7p (+2.3p on the fortnight), while 132 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1,285 and 261.5p to level at £999.53 and 218.6p (+5.8p). Twelve store, B&W bullocks sold to £910 and 164.6p to average £824.17 and 153.4p (+4.7p).
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had a large entry of 5,024 prime hoggs in Longtown on Thursday that sold to £117 per head and 278p per kg to average 191.3p (-8.3p on the week).
There were also 4049 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £160 for Texels and averaged £83.14 (+£2.91), while light/export-type ewes peaked at £74 for Blackfaces and levelled at £36.94 (+£3.93). Rams sold to £128 for a Texel and averaged £81.22.
