LAWRIE & Symington Ltd had a large show of cast sheep in Lanark on Monday when 470 heavy ewes averaged £79.07 and 842 light/export-type ewes levelled at £51.63.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold nine prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1,488.30 per head or 242p per kg to average £1,345.93 and 235.4p, while a couple of prime bullocks both fetched £1,104 and 230p.
In the rough ring 102 beef cows sold to £1,600 and 172p for the same to average 129.8p, while 92 dairy cows peaked at £1,140 and 137.7p to level at 103.4p. Ten bulls sold to £1510 and 159p for the same to average 119.2p, while 19 clean OTM cattle peaked at £1,130 and 185.3p to level at 151.02p.
A small offering of five dairy cattle sold to £1750 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1352.
Wallets Marts sold 1,176 prime hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £116 per head and 289.5p per kg to average £78 and 196.7p (+6.4p).
Cast sheep also looked firmer on the week with 149 heavy ewes averaging £70.31 and 251 light ewes levelling at £49.70
