Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 190 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1200 per head and 260.1p per kg to average £925.53 and 216.5p (+6.8p on the fortnight), while 291 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1440 and 259.8p to level at £940.96 and 220.5p (+1.2p). Forty-two store, dairy-bred bullocks sold to £955 and 164.7p for the same to average £778.33 and 149.7p (no change).
C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 4591 prime hoggs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £146 per head and 288p per kg to average 203.1p (+13.2p on the week).
A much larger show of 5098 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £156 for Texels and average £81.62 (-£1.18), while light/export-type ewes peaked at £71 for Blackfaces and levelled at £40.52 (-£7.18). Rams sold to £120 for a Texel and averaged £76.19.
