Livestock markets across Scotland have been disrupted by the road conditions.

Messrs Craig Wilson sold 235 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1210 per head and 269p per kg to average £818.40 and 227p (+6.2p on the fortnight), while 174 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1320 and 303.5p to level at £965.06 and 234.7p (-8.4p). Twenty-five store, B&W bullocks sold to £815 and 151.8p to average £679.80 and 142.6p (-15p).

C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 3398 prime hoggs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £133 per head and 309p per kg to average 224p (+10.5p on the week).

There was also a smaller show of 2961 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £161 for Texels and averaged £86.47 (+6.07), while light/export-type ewes peaked at £80 for Cheviots and levelled at £43.92 (+£8.51). Rams sold to £120 for a Texel and averaged £80.83.
