Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 18 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 256p per kg and an average of 244.1p (+2.4p on the week), while a couple of prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 218p and levelled at 217.5p (no change). Seven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 172.5p and averaged 148.1p (+3.2p).
In the rough ring 22 beef cows averaged 134p (-1p) and 66 dairy cows levelled at 115p (+1p).
There were also 2159 prime hoggs that sold to £148.50 per head and 330p per kg to average 237p (+17p).
Ninety-nine heavy cast ewes sold to £159.50 for a Texel and averaged £96.92, while 377 light/export-type ewes peaked at £89 for Blackfaces and levelled at £53.24.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 7 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1398.15 per head and 239p per kg for the same beast to average £1257.04 and 235p, while a prime bullock fetched £1281 or 244p.
In the rough ring 27 beef cows sold to£1300 and 169.1p to average 134.1p, while 108 dairy cows peaked at £1180 and 147p to level at 118.3p. Seven bulls sold to £1580 and 167.2p to average 122.2p, while 9 clean OTM cattle peaked at £1280 and 161p for the same to level at 141.7p.
Wallets Marts sold 266 prime hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £134 and 316.2p to average £97.34 and 232.9p (+3.7p).
Fourteen heavy cast ewes averaged £93.79 and 61 light ewes levelled at £33.34.
