THE Scottish Retail Consortium has named Scotmid chief executive John Brodie as its new chairman.

Mr Brodie will succeed Andrew Murphy of the John Lewis Partnership, who has held the role since 2004, on January 1

The chartered accountant said his appointment comes as a “crucial time” for the retail sector. “That is why it is important the SRC continues the work Andrew oversaw, to encourage policy makers to pursue a more coherent approach to the retail economy,” Mr Brodie said.
