VisitScotland unveils new event boss

Robbie Clyde has been named head of EventScotland, an arm of tourism marketing agency VisitScotland.
Set to join the agency on April 9, Mr Clyde is currently regional director in Southern Europe for Scottish Development International. Based in Paris, he oversees Scotland’s investment and export strategy against the Government’s key sectors. Prior to that he worked with EventScotland as The Ryder Cup project director, ahead of the gold event coming to Gleneagles in 2014.
Paul Bush, director of events, said: “Robbie brings a wealth of major events and tourism experience and, having worked with him previously to deliver the Ryder Cup 2014, I know he will be a valuable addition not only to EventScotland but to the whole Scottish events industry."
Mr Clyde said: “My time working with the organisation to deliver the Ryder Cup 2014 was a career highlight so I am looking forward to returning to take up this new challenge."

Software firm ups marketing presence

Criton Apps, the software developer for the hospitality industry, has stepped up its expansion plans with the appointment of the former marketing manager of Festivals Edinburgh to spearhead its international sales drive. 
Having secured a £5 million investment boost, the “traveltech” company launched by chief executive Julie Grieve in December 2016, has hired Susan Russell as head of marketing.
Ms Russell will be responsible for ensuring Criton achieves the traction it needs within the tourism and hospitality market to become an major player. 
She starts alongside two new business development managers, Karina Ogunyemi and Sadiah Mir. Ms Ogunyemi, who joins from Travel Tech Europe, will head up Criton’s London sales office at the Tech Lab, while Ms Mir will continue to build on Criton’s sales in Scotland from its headquarters at Codebase in Edinburgh.

DM Hall names five new partners

CHARTERED surveyor DM Hall has appointed five new partners with three working in residential property, one in commercial property and one in country property.
Richard Clowes, at Galashiels, Graham Forbes in Inverness and Michael McDonald in Elgin, focus on the residential property market, while Ross Wilson, head of agency in the East of Scotland, specialises in commercial and Donald Yellowley (pictured) of DM Hall’s country department, based in Bridge of Allan, is an expert in rural valuation work.
Senior partner of DM Hall, John Albiston, said: “These appointments are part of our overall aim to continue to promote from within and to put in place proper succession for the firm.”.
