Partner in Glasgow for Pinsent Masons
INTELLECTUAL property specialist David Woods has been promoted to partner at legal firm Pinsent Masons.
The Glasgow-based lawyer is one of 23 individuals who will assume partnership at the global firm with effect from May 1.
Dual qualified to practice in Scotland and in England and Wales, Mr Woods specialises in disputes concerning trademark infringement, copyright infringement and passing off, and in advising on brand and domain name issues.
He has acted for a broad range of retail, technology, energy and financial services organisations and has significant experience of large scale litigation and of advising on alternative forms of dispute resolution.
Pinsent Masons chairman of Scotland and Northern Ireland, Richard Masters, said: “David’s promotion is a reflection of his ongoing contribution to maintaining the firm’s reputation for high level dispute resolution and arbitration services.”
Forth Ports decommissioning boost
Forth Ports has appointed Ann Rooney as its new business development manager, with a focus on oil and gas support and decommissioning activity for Scotland.
Ms Rooney arrives at the port group with experience in business development and operational functions within the shipping, logistics and marine sector. She previously worked with DB Schenker for seven years in various roles and also with GAC Shipping.
She is based in Aberdeen and will work across the Scottish operation, which operates seven commercial ports on the Tay and Forth Estuaries, with her main focus on the ports of Dundee, Leith and Rosyth.
Stuart Wallace, chief operating officer of forth ports, said: “We welcome Ann to the Scottish team. Ann’s appointment comes at an important time for Forth Ports’ as we focus on attracting work from the oil and gas and decommissioning sector to our ports on the Tay and Forth Estuaries."
Castlight bring in head of innovation
Castlight Financial, the Glasgow-based financial analysis company, has recruited Ryszard Jedrzejewski to head up the company’s growing product and innovation team.
Prior to joining Castlight Financial Mr Jedrzejewski has had leadership roles across the financial services industry.
His most recent role was at app design agency, Swarm Online, where he established a financial services practice to increase market share through partnering strategies, client engagement and innovation boot camps.
As part of the senior management team at the Clydesdale Bank, he helped shape the lender's successful B Digital bank and launched an innovative mortgage coaching app, taking it from “concept to live” in 12 weeks.
