I style fashion shoots for the Herald Magazine and Sunday Herald, as well as contributing written pieces on fashion and lifestyle subjects. Since joining in 2007, I have been fortunate enough to travel around Scotland on occasions to work on fashion shoots for our titles. I was even sent to Paris for a fashion shoot for the Sunday Herald a few years back – a definite career highlight. My other interests include music, film and interiors.
This new trend is beneficial for the lips as satin finish lipsticks are more moisturising and provide a sheer wash of colour rather than an intense stain. They are also better for everyday use and easier to touch-up on the go as you can apply straight from the lipstick bullet, rather than having to worry about fiddly lip brushes.
In the grand setting of Mansfield Traquair, a historic converted church in the heart of the city, models including fashion festival founder Anna Freemantle walked the runway wearing Clements Ribeiro's eclectic designs.
The collection on Friday evening featured items such as mini-kilts and tartan dresses which were inspired by Scotland's rich heritage. Floral print, lace and embellished collars also loomed large.
Mhairi Mackenzie, 34, from the Isle of Bute, currently splitting my time between there and Glasgow. I studied at the old Building and Printing college in Glasgow and Caledonian University. I had been running my own design business for eight years prior to taking the plunge with Bonnie Bling. After a discussion with a friend which ended up in us trading Scottish slang words, I wanted to figure out how to turn the words into accessories.
Why knuckle dusters?
There will be a Scottish Pavilion with 16 textile companies and designers at the 21st China International Clothing and Accessories Fair, in Beijing, from March 26 to 29. It's the first time Scotland will be represented.
Brands include established textile companies such as Johnstons of Elgin and Hawick Cashmere, as well as up-and-coming designers such as Rebecca Torres, Iona Crawford and Hilary Grant. Barrie Knitwear, the Borders-based firm which was bought by Chanel last year, will also be at the exhibition.
