Over the years, the SNP has campaigned hard in general election and specific plebiscite on Scottish interests and how, among political parties, it is best placed to advance Scottish claims. Land ownership is an emotive issue with a resonance that predates rights over hydrocarbons or H2O. Yet, despite historical connotations, it does not seem to have the same significance for the SNP government at Holyrood.
