Used wisely, they can help women to advance to the top of their careers, at a time when the upper echelons of business, politics and public affairs remain predominantly male. A recent report by the Equality And Human Rights Commission (EHRC) Scotland revealed that 10 of the top 30 private companies have no women at board level, while just one-third of public board members are female.
