A poor outcome for our children

FORricher, for poorer.

While Britain’s bankers anticipate helping themselves to billions in bonuses this year, child poverty is set to rise sharply, according to two reports out yesterday. The Centre for Economic and Social Research predicts that investment bankers will pocket £7bn in bonuses. Meanwhile the Institute for Fiscal Studies calculates that the Coalition’s shake-up of the tax and benefits system will leave almost one child in four living in relative poverty by 2020.
