DAVID J Crawford (Letters, December 3) seems to be accusing Glasgow Chamber of Commerce of meddling in the affairs of Prestwick Airport.

This is not the case. The chamber was merely asking for an assurance that Glasgow Airport would not be disadvantaged by the fact that Prestwick Airport is now under state control. He invites us to "look at the big picture". I have done so and watched a dinosaur dying on its 7000ft runway.

As far as future profits not ending up as shareholder's dividends, why did the last owners, having struggled for years to contain its £20m annual loss, sell it for just £1?
