Scottish sport will receive a much-needed fillip should Glasgow Warriors overcome Leinster in the biggest game in the history of the Scottish club, tonight's RaboDirect PRO12 final in Dublin.
It will require unprecedented levels of steel and skill for Gregor Townsend's men to defeat a team who will be aiming to say farewell to their talismanic centre Brian O'Driscoll in winning style, but the omens are good.
The Glasgow team know what it takes to beat Leinster, having tasted victory against the league leaders at Scotstoun in September.
Although the Irish side enjoy a far superior record against Warriors, the Scottish side go into the match on the back of nine straight wins. They will also be cheered on by thousands of supporters who have descended upon Dublin from Scotland and further afield by any means necessary: air, road, rail and sea. And let us not forget the many fans around the globe who will be tuning into television coverage of the encounter.
After the disappointment of the national side's RBS Six Nations campaign, Scottish rugby needs a Warriors victory more than ever. We wish them the very best of luck.
