Explanation on rail link is now needed

When Finance Secretary John Swinney cancelled the Glasgow Airport Rail Link (Garl) last September, it was with the explanation that the £210m cost was unaffordable given the savings required from the Scottish Government.

The inevitable disappointment in Glasgow and the west of Scotland was the more acute because a fast public transport link from the airport was integral to Glasgow’s bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games, making it a priority project for the city council.
