Progress in fight against knife crime

IT is important not to use statistics like a drunk man uses a lamp post: for support rather than illumination.

As The Herald reveals today, there has been an impressive drop in Scotland in the numbers being sentenced for the possession of a knife or offensive weapon since 2006.The figures are down by more than a third. Scotland appears to be doing better than England in this respect.
