I NOTE with interest Graham Beard's letter (September 11) lamenting the proliferation of trees alongside some of our most scenic railway routes.
This is rife throughout the entire railway system of the UK.
I and others have commented on this previously, bearing in mind that this also, on an annual basis, has Network Rail embarking on a costly exercise that will commence in a few weeks time to have what is termed "railhead treatment trains" to clear away leaves and associated gunk.
It is small wonder this is necessary.
I am surprised that train drivers have not raised this matter as they require adequate sighting for signals and the like.
