All bets off. Nothing ruled out and so on. I gather that the recent forecast by the Centre for Public Policy in the Regions of something like a £1.5bn cut for 2011-12 may not be far off the mark.

There are far better targets for cuts than front-line services
The Scottish Cabinet held a marathon meeting this week to chew over a presentation from Dr Andrew Goudie, the chief economic adviser, on the “unprecedented” cuts in public spending in Scotland due to hit next year.
