REGARDING the introduction of 20 mph speed limits in Edinburgh, your correspondents (Letters, March 21, 25, 26 & 27) have missed an important point: the capital has no need to install speed bumps.

Traffic calming apparatus is already in place in the form of plentiful potholes, some quite spectacular, manifest throughout the city centre roads.

I sometimes wonder how buses manage to negotiate these hazards without toppling over, and heaven knows what visitors to these shores make of it.

Well done Edinburgh (Trams'R'Us) City Council.
