In your article on the proposed Strathallan Estate location of this summer's T in the Park festival, local resident is quoted as saying that "there is no ancient woodland at Strathallan" (Woodland Trust accused of dirty tricks to halt T in the Park, News, April 26).

However, not only are many of these woods listed on the Ancient Woodland Inventory, as categorised by Scottish Natural Heritage, they also are referred to as ancient woodland within DF Concert's own environmental statement. Both of these facts contradict claims of a "dirty tricks" campaign.

As part of the UK's leading charity championing native trees and woods it is our responsibility to speak up when woodland is under threat from development and disturbance, and to give our supporters the ability to have their own voices heard.

As we have repeated many times, the Trust is not against T in the Park. However, due to impacts including artificial light and noise on the woodland at Strathallan and the wildlife that lives there, we feel it is the wrong venue for the festival.
