AT the tyre-fitting specialist garages does anyone know of a circumstance where a faulty tyre has been given a puncture repair (at low cost) without needing replaced (at high cost) ?

Almost without fail the hole seems to be at a location on the tyre that is not repairable.

Whilst one does not wish to compromise safety it seems odd that nowadays most punctures, at virtually any location on the tyre, cannot be repaired.

Forgive the cynical suggestion but could it be that the bonus scheme for the fitters rewards tyre sales and not tyre repairs ?
