I NOTE with interest your report that the Rev Dr Angus Morrison will take up the role of Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland next May ("Returning Church of Scotland Moderator issues warning", The Herald, October 29).
He will not have to look far for troublesome issues facing the Kirk, such as the large drop in membership; the controversy over the ordination of gay ministers; the position of the church in relation to same-sex marriage and the problems associated with church income and expenditure and decreasing ministerial resources.
We should take this opportunity to wish the new Moderator the faith, the fortitude, and the good health to fulfil his responsibilities.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
