THIS week's bad weather has demonstrated the weaknesses of our outdated and worn-out infrastructure.

The A82 was shut due to landslides, as is the A83 on a frequent basis.

In Norway or France a series of tunnels and shelters would be built to ensure the key infrastructure remains open and the economy supported in these areas.

The Scottish Parliament has the powers to do this, but not one party has done so. The reason is that it lacks the financial means despite billions of oil revenues having flowed from the North Sea. Just last week another oilfield was discovered.

The Union forces Scotland to spend our taxes on HS2 and HS3 instead of the A82 and A83. The only answer is independence.
