I NOTE with interest the plans announced by the Scottish Government to reduce the country's drink drive limit ("New lower drink-drive limit before Christmas", The Herald, October 24.
I'm sure I am not alone in wanting to see complete abstinence from the consumption of alcohol before getting behind the wheel of any vehicle. According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, one in five deaths is caused by drink driving. Total abstinence should be the message pushed home to all drivers on Scotland's roads.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
