Like many thousands of former Eric Clapton fans, I had the misfortune to attend his "performance" at the Hydro on Saturday in Glasgow.

The venue was packed, fans, many who would have spent an average of at least £100 each to purchase tickets, pay booking fees, postage and travel to the venue. The so called "performance" by this prima donna was scheduled to take place from 20.45 hrs until 22.45.

Surprise indeed then, when at 22.08, midway through a song, Mr Clapton put his instrument down and led the band off the stage! No declaration of technical difficulties, no apparent crowd disorder, no suggestion of sudden illness! After two minutes and booing from the disgruntled crowd, the band traipsed back onto the stage and after a mumbled "Sorry", grudgingly played one more number.

The previous inconsiderate behaviour was then repeated, the whole band forming a conga and departing from the stage.

It is disrespectful of a performer to treat an audience with such disdain. The management of the Hydro should hang their heads in shame for not making any form of public announcement. The reputation of the Hydro has been badly damaged.
