Ferry could be one in a century

YOU report on the launching of a new diesel/electric ferry, at an additional cost of £2m over a conventional ferry ("Hybrid ferry makes history", The Herald, December 18).

You also report a saving of £20,000 on fuel costs, which I assume is an annual cost. So this additional expenditure will be amortized in 100 years. A bargain.
