Fractured Coalition

Nick Clegg's statement of pique is quickly drowned with even greater words of venom by his Tory Coalition colleagues ("Cameron plea to defy Clegg as cracks grow in Coalition", The Herald, August 8).

Tit-for-tat threats do nothing to preserve any failing relationship far less that of our national Government. The one certainty in this slanging debacle will be the demise of the once promising LibDem party. The well-intended but equally misunderstood actions of Mr Clegg and LibDem MPs has deteriorated into farce. An obvious partial saving grace would be an early departure from the sham Coalition. Thereby David Cameron would be left to survive the wrath of his own colleagues.
