Further to John McNeil's letter (November 26) pointing out that David McCallum's son, Val, plays with Jackson Browne's band, there is a further musical and familial link to Glasgow.

Actor David McCallum's father, Kilsyth-born David Snr, was the leader (principal first violinist) of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Scottish National Orchestra.

McCallum Snr also played on The Beatles' Life in a Day and is credited by Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page with giving him the idea of playing his guitar with a violin bow.
