Gay marriage issue is one for MSPs, not councillors

SCOTLAND for Marriage is to leaflet 300,000 homes in Glasgow at a cost of £15,000 urging voters not to support candidates who support equal marriage for same-sex couples.

Its attempt to try to swing the outcome of the local elections in Glasgow is ill-judged, misguided and insulting to Glasgow's voters. Glasgow City Council will have no say in legislating for equal marriage. That is the responsibility of MSPs.
