SCOTLAND for Marriage is to leaflet 300,000 homes in Glasgow at a cost of £15,000 urging voters not to support candidates who support equal marriage for same-sex couples.
Its attempt to try to swing the outcome of the local elections in Glasgow is ill-judged, misguided and insulting to Glasgow's voters. Glasgow City Council will have no say in legislating for equal marriage. That is the responsibility of MSPs.
The majority of Scots support equal marriage, including many people of faith and their voices must be heard too. Scotland for Marriage does not speak for all people of all faiths. The basic fact is the local elections will be decided on local issues and the voters of Glasgow are canny enough to see through this mean-spirited campaign.
