THE time has clearly come for the Labour Party to take a long hard look themselves.

One of the things they must do is to abandon their outdated quota system and all-woman shortlists.

All the other parties have demonstrated that women are capable of being elected and of rising to high office without being shown favour.

Sad, to say, Labour are effectively saying that a woman is incapable of competing with a man on a level playing field.

Abandoning this outdated procedure could be the first step towards a revival of the party.
