THERE is a public perception that hospital food is very poor and the publicity about nutritional meals being made legal can only add to this misconception ("Hospitals could be required by law to serve quality meals", The Herald, November 18).

I can only quote my frequent experience in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where the choice of menu is extremely varied and caters for all tastes. One must remember that most people going into hospital are not in the best of health, not feeling like eating probably, and if hungry at all are looking for their staple diet.

In Aberdeen there was no shortage of fruit and vegetables available at every meal. How does one legislate for what people eat?
