I am relieved that my children have completed their schooling

I RECENTLY retired from teaching after 20 years and am now free to say what I think, unlike former colleagues who are contractually bound to silence.

The radical changes proposed by Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) are expected to take place at every level in secondary schools at almost the same time ("Decision to delay 'makes nonsense' of new exams", The Herald, February 6, and Letters, February 4, 6 & 7). Different schools in different authorities are expected to reinvent the wheel with lack of co-ordination seen as a positive virtue. This is like building a house with builders working on the foundations, the roof and the walls at the same time; result, a pile of rubble.
