Ruth Marr says the situation in Iraq is getting worse (Another view of Iraq's 'progress', Letters, April 21).
Elections have gone well, construction is booming and the economy is growing. Wages have quadrupled and Iraq is now the second-biggest oil producer in Opec. To cap it all, British travel companies are now offering tours of northern Iraq.
The road to peace and stability was always going to be long and hard, but I for one am pleased to see the Iraqi people making progress along it.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
