It’s time for Salmond to support council in tram project
As an opponent of the Edinburgh Tram Project, Iain A D Mann says he has "yet to meet a single person from Edinburgh who is in favour of the scheme" (Letters, July 2).
My experience of people in the business community and friends from Edinburgh is precisely the opposite. Perhaps the time is right for the petty politicking to be put aside and for First Minister Alex Salmond to put the interests of Scotland ahead of political dogma and support Edinburgh City Council to find a way to complete the project. It would be political recklessness to throw away £750 million in cancellation charges and have nothing to show for it.
