Just how fair and democratic is Scotland’s planning system?

It is not just conservationists who are disappointed by the Court of Session's decision regarding Hunterston coal-fired power station and its inclusion in National Planning Framework (NPF) for Scotland ("Legal bid to block power station is rejected", The Herald, October 5).

The decision is deeply concerning for anyone interested in a democratic planning system or a reasonable hearing from the Scottish courts.

The NPF consultation should have been a genuine national conversation about how Scotland should develop in order to be democratically validated.
