I MUST praise Colette Douglas-Home's thought-provoking article ("Those drowned in a tide of inhumanity ill-served by us", The Herald, April 21).

I thought I was the only person left who hasn't recovered from the appalling tragedy of Rwanda.

I went to church at the time in full expectation that the minister would commentate forcefully and with

enormous sympathy for the sufferers. His prayers offered nothing. I haven't been back to church since.

My children were both under five at the time and I was desperate just to go there but I couldn't work out how I

could. I remained devastated for years. Thank you for reminding everyone.
