YOU report that public bodies have admitted it was a mistake to relocate public services to the edge of town ("Councils:

We made errors that hurt our town centres", The Herald, August 25). The report gives the impression that this practice has been stopped. I'm afraid this is not true as regards Clydebank.

The Playdrome, our local leisure centre, is being demolished and the replacement will be located down on the banks of the Clyde. The present location is two minutes from a railway station and three minutes from the bus route. There are at least 10 buses using this route, so access is excellent. The new location is a 20-minute walk from the station and no buses go anywhere near it.

The council will probably put on a bus of, say, one per hour, so in their eyes, the problem will be solved. Numbers will drop off and heads will scratched as to why.

Town planning? Give me strength.
