I HAVE been intrigued recently by the BBC and general media with regard to the phrases attributed to the general public leading up to the feast of Christmas.

Mega-stores hype their so-called bargains and when people respond, it is reported on the news as "which is being called Black Friday... "(an American term I believe, which as a 60-year-old I have never heard anyone in Glasgow say before). On the main BBC news at the weekend, the reporter announced we had "what is being called Panic Saturday." What?

I wonder what Sunday will be next?

Will we have Frenzied Friday on Boxing Day? Stressed Saturday or Strung-out Sunday?

In truth, we do what we always do at Christmas. We put pressure on ourselves to "get organised". But actually, we enjoy it. Be quiet and leave us alone. And stop name-calling.
