Your editorial comment that Police Scotland is a "failed experiment" needs further examination (Either the chief constable changes his approach ...

or he must be replaced, Editorial, February 22). Anyone with an interest in the enjoyment of our outdoor environment will be wondering exactly what Police Scotland are up to. Last summer, in the Lomond Hills in Fife, notices appeared with a Police Scotland heading and logo, warning the public to choose alternative routes because of the presence of cows and calves. What next - armed police guarding the farm animals?

Over at Loch Lomond, Police Scotland have allowed a misinterpretation of their own data by the National Park Authority. This manipulation has been done by the Park to support their proposed massive extension of camping by-laws, while knowing that this data provides no evidence and no support for such a proposal. It is time that the Scottish Parliament sorted out this shambles before Scottish courts are required to establish what we can expect from our police, from camping to cows.
