This august journal asked: "Has Scotland learned to love the jubilee?" ( Special report, News, May 27).

This week's question must be: Has the Sunday Herald learned to count? We were told about diamond jubilee celebrations due to take place "Sixty years after Elizabeth II was crowned", in an article that later tells us of "the Queen's official crowning on June 2, 1953".

On the same page we learned that Mabel Houston, 83, plans to watch the celebrations "60 years after she watched the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953".

I struggle to decide which is the more worrying: the Sunday Herald's arithmetic, or a Scottish newspaper using the designation Elizabeth II. However, I rejoice in the assurance that the 1953 coronation was "official".
