Same-sex marriage: Jesus's view

Catriona Stewart asks "What would Jesus do?" in relation to the contentious issue of same-sex marriage (The Herald, June 30).

The question may be answered by looking at what Jesus actually did with someone caught in a situation of sexual immorality. "Neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin" (John 8 v 10,11). In his gracious yet challenging response, Jesus illustrates that his church is a place for sinners, but not a promoter of sin.
