CHRIS McAllister is, understandably, an angry man (Letters, October 31).

A delicate balance needs to be struck between allowing commerce and the arts to flourish in the centre of Scotland's largest city. If businessmen like Mr McAllister are distracted from work on account of street art, the necessary equilibrium is not being maintained.

The simple solution would be a little more regulation to limit the number of musical performances per hour or even to turn the volume down a bit. Or maybe for the working week we should get more of those entertainers who thrive on being unobtrusive by standing stock still in absolute silence, barring the occasional theatrical move, during standard business hours?
