ROSEMARY Goring ("Fortunes of osprey pair must take precedence", The Herald, April 27) states that T in the Park has been granted permission to relocate.

This is not accurate - the planning process is still under way, with the second public consultation having ended last Saturday and a decision due from Perth & Kinross Council next month (assuming no further consultation is triggered by the site re-designs being necessitated by the proposed buffer zones around osprey nests). RSPB's input has come in the form of a formal objection to the festival which will only be removed if various (quite strict) conditions are complied with. Whether or not the organisers can comply with these conditions remains to be seen, as does the council's decision on the application as a whole.
