RECENT contributions on prayers in school ( Letters, November 14 & 17) brought to mind some lines which many years ago we enjoyed in primary school re our authoritarian and much-respected headmaster:

"Old Bill he was a holy man, he went to the kirk on Sunday, And prayed to God to give him strength to belt the weans on Monday."

Now it seems that prayers in school are likely to go the way of the lochgelly.
